Thoracic spine

The thoracic spine is the section of the spine located between the cervical and lumbar regions. It consists of 12 vertebrae (T1–T12), which are connected to the ribs and form the thoracic cage. It contributes to trunk stability and protects vital organs such as the heart and lungs. It is characterized by reduced mobility compared to other spinal regions due to its connection to the rib cage.
