Traumatology
Traumatology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries of the musculoskeletal system. It includes fractures, dislocations, ligament tears, and other injuries resulting from accidents or high-energy trauma. Its goal is the restoration of the patient’s function and mobility. Management may be conservative (e.g., splints, casts) or surgical, depending on the severity of the injury. Traumatology works closely with orthopedics and rehabilitation for the patient’s full recovery.
