Cervical spinal nerve analgesia is a minimally invasive technique used for the relief of pain in the neck, shoulder, and upper limb.
Technical procedure
The technique involves targeted injection of a local anesthetic, with or without corticosteroid, near the affected nerve root responsible for the symptoms, aiming to reduce inflammation and nerve irritation.
Therapeutic goal
• Desensitization of irritated neural structures
• Pain relief
• Facilitation of functional recovery without inducing complete anesthesia
Indications
• Cervical pain syndromes
• Cervicobrachial pain
• C5, C6, C7, and C8 cervical radiculopathy
• Nerve root irritation
• Post-traumatic conditions
Benefits
• Significant pain reduction
• Improved mobility
Clinical approach
In most cases, the procedure is performed using anatomical landmarks or ultrasound guidance. In rare cases, fluoroscopic guidance may be required.
